Final Rule CY 2022 made significant changes to the PDGM Comorbidity Adjustment Subgroups.  The increase of subgroups under the low adjustment has increased from 13 to 30 subgroups (57% increase) and the high comorbidity adjustment interactions increased from 31 to 87 subgroups (64% increase).   What does this mean for coding?  It means that many more codes could yield payment adjustments and coding needs to be accurate to receive appropriate reimbursement and avoid upcoding.

Be there to listen to practical advice and exercise your coding skills with Test Your Knowledge cases highlighting the changes.

Program Objectives:

  • Understand the coding changes for the low comorbidity subgroups
    • Changing from 13 to 20 subgroups
    • Learn what ICD-10-CM codes are now part of the low comorbidity adjustment
      • Additional Circulatory, Musculoskeletal, Neoplasms, Neuro & Respiratory subgroups included
  • Understand the high comorbidity adjustment interactions for 2022
    • Changing from 31 to 87 code group interactions
    • Review of common interactions which increase payment
