Hospice Nuts and Bolts is
unlike any Hospice 101 or 201 class you have ever attended. This is a virtu
al, intensive 2-day program presented by Corridor. The program is designed
to reinforce the regulatory and compliance components of hospice for all cl
inicians and individuals in leadership positions in hospice organizations.
OAHC Members may attend this course at the discounted rate of $299 per per
son. Physical course materials and a questionnaire will be sent to registra
nts in advance, so please register early! About the Program This
program, developed and taught by Corridor, covers the Conditions of Partic
ipation in detail, including the Medicare benefit from a clinical perspecti
ve including eligibility, recertification, what is covered and what is not,
levels of care, revocation, discharge and transfer. Throughout the program
focus is placed on documentation throughout the continuum of care, includi
ng documentation regarding eligibility, levels of care, symptom management
and the Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs). In addition, the Comprehensiv
e Assessment and the “rules” surrounding the Plan of Care. Significant focu
s will be place on the interdisciplinary team (IDT) including their form an
d function and the IDT meeting. Facility based care is also highlighted in
this program to assist in understanding the importance of care coordination
and both the hospice and the facility responsibilities. Quality Assessment
Performance Improvement will be covered in detail, including how QAPI and
corporate compliance work hand in hand. Compliance and all aspects of compl
iance and risk will be covered, including details on enforcing agencies.

years of varied Home Health and Hospice experience in clinical and senior m
anagement, as well as experience in compliance in both for-profit and non-p
rofit organizations. Her focus has been on quality, compliance, and educati
on. As an Executive Director her organization was awarded the “Hospice of t
he Year” designation for growth and quality scores. She also was the recipi
ent of a Rotary International grant for rural hospice care. She has also wo
rked as a Quality Assurance Reviewer for Home Health coding, OASIS and Hosp
ice Coding Services. Currently, she is a Clinical Product Development Speci
alist at Corridor. Sharon has been a featured speaker at conferences across
the U.S. showcasing both Hospice and Home health coding and compliance. Rebecca Crane, PhD, MSN, RN, CHPN, CHC: Dr. Crane has
more than 45 years of experience in nursing including more than 18 years in
senior management for home health and hospice agencies. Dr. Crane offers e
xpertise in home health and hospice management including: staff development
and education, personnel management and professional accountability, fisca
l responsibilities, regulatory compliance, documentation standards and best
practice and with specialty in compliance and quality assurance performanc
e improvement (QAPI). Rebecca also spent several years as an Indiana State
Surveyor for Home Health and Hospice agencies conducting state and Federal
initial, license renewal, and complaint audits. She is personally a Certifi
ed Hospice & Palliative Nurse believing strongly in the value of becomi
ng an expert in the field. During this long career span, Dr. Crane h
as continued to pursue higher education beginning as a Licensed Practical N
urse, and continuing through Associate, Bachelor, and Master programs to
the current status of a doctoral degree in Nursing Education. Over the pas
t nine years, Rebecca has been teaching in a BSN program at Indiana Wesley
an University. Education has featured largely in her management positions i
n both home health and hospice. Last year, Dr. Crane became Certified in He
