Looking for an innovative way to prepare your staff to become certified coders or enhance certified coder’s education? This webinar series has been specially developed to help staff continue to improve their coding skills during this unprecedented time. While this intense series is designed for the motivated student who wants to pursue coding certification, it is also appropriate for the clinician looking to enhance their coding understanding and accuracy. Continue to master ICD-10-CM by utilizing critical thinking skills with this fast-paced class designed for the person who is experienced in coding. Test Your Knowledge scenarios will be presented, and time will be provided for participants to code and gain more proficiency. 

Course Outline:
Session 1:
• In-depth review of Official Guidelines for Coding & Reporting including code structure and conventions • Review Diagnostic Chapters Coding Guidelines & Common Diagnoses • Certain Infectious & Parasitic Diseases • Neoplasm Coding
Session 2: • Review of Diagnostic Chapters • Endocrine, Nutritional and Metabolic Diseases • Mental, Behavioral & Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Session 3: • Diseases of the Nervous System • Diseases of the Circulatory System
Session 4: • Review of Diagnostic Chapters • Diseases of the Respiratory System • COVID Coding & Vaping Coding • Diseases of the Digestive System • Diseases of the Skin & Subcutaneous Tissue 
Session 5: • Diseases of the Skin & Subcutaneous Tissue • Diseases of Musculoskeletal System & Connective tissue • Diseases of the Genitourinary System
Session 6:  • Review of Diagnostic Chapters • Symptoms, Signs & Abnormal Clinical and Laboratory Findings Not Elsewhere Classified • Injury, Poisoning and Certain Other Consequences of External Causes Coding • Factors Influencing Health Status & Contact with Health Services

All Sessions will include • Practice situational coding exercises, Test Your Knowledge, which includes identification of clinical grouping and comorbidity adjustment

Participants will need to have their ICD-10-CM manuals for class! ** ACE Guide including handouts will be mailed to each participant.  Please register by June 10 to ensure timely receipt.

Optional: ACE-10 Coding Certification Exam available on July 12 at 9:00 a.m. EST for an additional $199/person as a separate registration. Exam registration is booked directly through JLU Health Record Systems. www.jluhealth.com  Events Tab.  ACE-10 Certification demonstrates proficiency in home health (ACE-HH) OR hospice coding (ACE-H).

Presenter:
Joan L. Usher, BS, RHIA, HCS-D, ACE, President, and Founder of JLU Health Record Systems is a nationally recognized expert in the field of home health coding and health information management. Joan is also an AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM trainer and Home Care Coding Specialist – Diagnosis (HCS-D) by the Board of Medical Specialty Coding & Compliance. Usher has a degree in Health Record Administration and has been consulting for over 35 years. Joan is Past President, Massachusetts Health Information Management Association (MaHIMA), a component organization of the American Health Information Management (AHIMA) that is considered the premier organization which credentials individuals as certified coders. She has taught ICD coding for over 25 years and has educated over 25,000 people in nationwide. Joan received the Distinguished Member Award in 2017 from MaHIMA.
