Improve employee retention, satisfaction and the quality of care provided by our direct care workforce, by focusing on person-centered care, communication, and interdepartmental teamwork.

Globally, the number of individuals with dementia will nearly triple to greater than 152 million by 2050 (AAIC,2021). There is an impending need and an opportunity for Home Care agencies to provide education to their caregivers who assist people with dementia to help them maintain their current level of function in the home setting.

Program Objectives:
Discuss why creating a solid dementia program is important and recognize the need in your service area.

  1. Identify the key elements that Dementia training should include to create an effective program.
  2. Recognize the steps you need to take to develop a Dementia program in your agency that will garner successful outcomes and foster growth.

Individuals with Dementia lose independence due to the progressive neurological deterioration of the disease. There are numerous strategies that can be employed to help the client with Dementia to live at least restrictive level of care, improve quality of life, and delay placement.

Behavior and functional issues are often challenging for caregivers and are precipitant to a move to a higher level of care. What can your agency do to enhance your Dementia care offerings and foster revenue growth?
